About our roof

It all started when…

Our long-time Treasurer said, “someday we should put solar on the roof” and the Library Director said “What’s this someday you’re talking about?”

Limitations to library service during the COVID-19 pandemic meant we had a bit more time and attention to devote to facilities projects. By October of 2021, we installed 88 Q-Cell 425w monocrystalline solar module and 88 Enphase IQ7+ Microinverters on the library roof.

As of this writing (in June of 2023) this installation has produced 61.16 MwH of energy, and prevented 43.7 tons of CO2 emissions. (In addition to saving the library money in electricity charges). Local residents Paul and Alison Lesure own the array and we lease the roof to them, in turn they sell us the electricity generated at a discount over Green Mountain Power’s prices. We’ll have the option to purchase the array at its present value in the December 2028. To make a donation to that effort, feel free to click the DONATE button below and write a note that says “SOLAR ARRAY” to let us know you are directing your support to our efforts to reduce the impact of our operations on the planet.
