Public Wi-Fi Internet Access Agreement The Library provides free wireless Internet access via an open, unsecured wireless network. It is strongly recommended that you do not use our network to transmit personal, financial or legal data. It is not possible for the Library to protect you against malicious theft or interception of such data transmitted over the wireless network. The Library will not assume responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop/PDA configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the library’s wireless service. Virus and security protection is the responsibility of the wireless user. Laptop/PDA owners are responsible for setting up their equipment to access the Carpenter-Carse Library wireless network. The library provides limited technical assistance to guide wireless users connecting to our network. The Library is not responsible for any changes you make to your computer’s settings and cannot guarantee your hardware will work with our wireless connection. Library staff does not provide technical assistance with wireless access, and will not under any circumstances make changes to the configuration of a privately owned wireless device. The Library reserves the right to limit bandwidth on a per connection basis on the wireless network. This will ensure network reliability and fair sharing of network resources for all wireless users. In general, the library limits users to 256kb per connection. The Carpenter-Carse Library has enabled content filtering on its wireless network. Filtering prevents end-users from viewing inappropriate content that could possibly offend other library patrons. It also prevents wireless users from using a disproportionate amount of bandwidth for downloading music, movies, and program files by blocking certain types of downloads. By registering to use the Carpenter-Carse Library wireless network, the wireless user agrees to abide by the Library’s Public Wi-Fi Internet Access Agreement and Public Access Computer Guidelines. To obtain a copy of these agreements please see the librarian on duty. | ||||||||
